Another busy month for us in May, activities ranged from hosting AI workshops, through to helping students through their exams and everything in between.

Danielle and Bill held more AI workshops.  These were especially appreciated by apprentices.  They told us they learned a lot and the workshop was interactive and very informative.

We wore green for Mental Health Day on the 14th May.  We held activities in the Mall designed so students would stop, complete an activity and chat with us.

During exam week we held our weeklong Mind your Mate campaign.   Each day we took bottled water, breakfast snacks and fruit to the sports hall to give out to students who were taking their exams.   Over each lunch time, we did crafts, including painting fans, plant pots, easels, (which was so popular we ran out of paint and easels) and bracelet making.  We planted tomato seedlings, had fun with fairground games, where students could win donuts, popcorn or sweets.

On Wednesday, the ever-popular petting Farm was with us for a few hours.  Students loved sitting with giant rabbits on their knees, watching the goats and petting the sheep.   A great way to take some time out of a busy week for most students.

We helped lots of students with academic advice, attended Student Staff Liaison Committees and gave shout outs to prospective paramedic students.

Friday was the end of the week and the end of exams for most students as a bonus the weather was glorious!  To celebrate we took our activities outside at the front of the Chancellor’s building.  We had garden games, including ‘smack the rat’ and ‘hook a duck,’ and if students won, they could exchange their winning tokens for a tasty snack from the snack station, we planted up the last of the tomato seedlings and from the SU Cart, we gave away our very tasty mocktails.    A lovely lunch was provided by the Student Life team, which everyone enjoyed.  A lovely day to end a very busy week, both for students and the SU.
